Heather works with adolescents and adults experiencing a broad range of mental health and emotional challenges, with specialized expertise in eating disorders and trauma-related disorders. Her training in Family-Based Treatment (FBT) allows her to provide parent support and Maudsley-informed skills coaching when appropriate throughout the recovery process. Heather is committed to creating an encouraging and inclusive therapeutic environment grounded in trust, kindness, and humor. She draws from an eclectic, trauma-informed, and client-centered approach, incorporating CBT, DBT, ACT, ERP, and solution-focused therapy.
Heather earned her master’s degree from Boston College’s Graduate School of Social Work in 2011. Prior to joining Birch Hill Behavioral Health, she spent over ten years at Walden Behavioral Care, where she served as Program Director of the residential program specializing in eating disorders. In this role, she provided evidence-based treatment to individuals across the lifespan. Heather has led numerous therapeutic groups focused on DBT, CBT, body image, self-esteem, perfectionism, and family-related concerns. As a psychotherapist at Walden, she provided both individual and family therapy and completed extensive training in DBT and FBT.
Most recently, Heather completed the BTTI training for OCD across the lifespan, specializing in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Her experience as a counselor at McLean Hospital’s inpatient trauma unit further strengthened her work with personality disorders, suicidality, and self-injury.
